Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT)
Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or I-CBT, starts from a reassuring premise: your patterns make sense once you understand how they were built. Rather than only managing symptoms in the moment, I-CBT looks at the underlying narratives and reasoning processes, the “what ifs” and imagined scenarios, that fuel obsessive doubt and keep certain thought loops running.
Together, we map out exactly how these patterns unfold, then test them against what is actually true in your real, lived experience versus what your imagination has constructed. This builds awareness and distance from the doubt itself, creating room to rewrite the stories that have been driving anxious or obsessive thinking.
I-CBT is especially well suited for OCD, intrusive thoughts, and obsessive doubt that hasn’t fully responded to more traditional exposure-based approaches.
If obsessive doubt has been running the show, I-CBT offers a different way in. Reach out to schedule a consultation.
