Somatic Awareness
Our minds and bodies are in constant conversation, even when we’re not consciously listening. Somatic awareness therapy teaches you to tune into that conversation: the tightness in your chest before a hard conversation, the exhale that finally comes after a long-held tension releases, the subtle cues your body gives before your thoughts catch up. Learning to notice these signals in real time is one of the most direct paths to emotional regulation and self-trust.
In session, we slow down enough to track sensation alongside story. Rather than only talking about what happened, we pay attention to what’s happening right now in your body as you talk about it. Over time, this builds a felt sense of safety and coherence, helping you respond to stress from a grounded place instead of being swept into old patterns of anxiety, shutdown, or overwhelm.
Somatic awareness work is especially helpful for people living with chronic stress, anxiety, trauma responses, or a general sense of feeling disconnected from their own body. It can be woven into individual therapy as a stand-alone focus or combined with other modalities offered here.
